The problem this solves

Naming usually goes wrong in one of two ways: a name is chosen emotionally and then found to be unregistrable, or a safe name is chosen that describes the category so generically it can never be owned. Both are expensive to fix after signage, packaging and a domain have been paid for.

Who this is for

New ventures, businesses launching a product line that needs to stand apart from the parent brand, and companies whose current name has become a liability — because it describes something they no longer do, or because it does not survive being said aloud in both Nepali and English.

Deliverables

  • Naming brief covering strategy, constraints and what the name must not imply
  • Longlist of candidate names across distinct naming territories
  • Shortlist with rationale, and the argument against each
  • Domain, social handle and Nepali company-register availability checks
  • Linguistic and cultural check across Nepali, English and, where relevant, Hindi
  • Tagline and verbal identity: naming conventions for future products
  • Pronunciation and usage guidance for staff and partners

How we run it

  1. 01

    Naming brief

Before generating anything we agree the constraints — what the name must do, what it must never suggest, and how it will appear in Devanagari as well as Latin script.

    You receive

    Signed naming brief

  2. 02

    Territory generation

Names are generated across deliberately different territories — descriptive, evocative, founder-derived, invented — so the choice is between approaches, not between fifty variations of one idea.

    You receive

    Longlist organised by territory

  3. 03

    Screening

Domains, social handles, and a search of the Office of the Company Registrar records. Names that cannot survive screening are removed before you see them.

    You receive

    Screened shortlist with availability evidence

  4. 04

    Linguistic review

Native-speaker review in Nepali and English for pronunciation, unintended meaning and how the name behaves when abbreviated or written in Devanagari.

    You receive

    Linguistic review notes

  5. 05

    Verbal identity

Once the name is chosen, the naming conventions for everything that follows — product names, service tiers, sub-brands — so the next name is not another project.

    You receive

    Verbal identity guide

Frequently asked questions

Do you guarantee the name will be available to register?
No, and no one honestly can. We screen domains, handles and the Company Registrar records, and we can coordinate a trademark search with your lawyer — but registrability is a legal determination made by the relevant authority, not by us.
Should the name be in Nepali or English?
It depends who has to say it and where it has to work. Nepali names carry warmth and local credibility; English or invented names travel further and are usually easier to register. We test candidates in both scripts before recommending, because a name that looks right in Latin can set badly in Devanagari.
What if we do not like any of the names?
Every tier includes at least one further round. In our experience a rejected longlist usually means the brief was wrong rather than the names were, so the next round starts by revisiting the brief.
